Craig Davison art draws particular inspiration from comic book artists and, for his latest collection, his childhood. Craig Davison intends for his finished paintings to have an energetic, amateurish, and naïve appearance, and achieves this by painting the surface of a completely white canvas with a brown or orange wash. He then proceeds to sketch into the paint using a rag, and blocks out the necessary shapes using a dark brown to distinguish between the background and foreground. His characters are ‘loosened up' with paint after they have been thoroughly defined in order to present a more glazed and natural appearance.
