" This picture was inspired by a scene from the film, Notting Hill where William Thacker, played by Hugh Grant was surrounded by a close circle of faithful friends and family. All were quite different from one another but totally interdependent. A special bond held them together through thick and thin forever. They could be your friends, mine or any viewer's friends. We can all relate to the scene and replace each of the characters with people we know. One thing is sure - they are all happy and comfortable in each others' company. They are all true friends.

On this piece I have made use of bright, light colour to accentuate the uniqueness of each character. Light is reflected from one direction, so each pig is lit differently.

Both pieces have been under painted in acrylics and finished in oils onto deep edged box canvases.

On this piece I have backlit the subject and used dramatic shadows to add more form and interest. I've intentionally cropped the picture tightly, giving the impression they've all perhaps squeezed into a tiny photo booth.
