Most of us imagine Monet's Waterlily series to be gigantic paintings housed in galleries and museums, however Monet did in fact paint a few smaller works of a similar kind.
On a small sized canvas Monet would explore light and colour effects rapidly, and if he was pleased with the results he would transpose the effect onto a larger canvas.
These smaller studies have a beauty and simplicity of their own, and I have tried to capture the subtlety and delicacy of these paintings in my version of Monet's originals.
