"Lowry has always been one of my favourite artists and his work has had a strong influence on my paintings. I often include a Lowry picture in my own gallery paintings and my landscapes sometimes take on a Lowry-esque look. With 'The Football Match' and 'A Working Day' I have tried to capture the atmosphere of Lowry's paintings with the factory chimneys, working class people and car-less streets. I had to limit my palette as Lowry only used 3 colours plus black and white, and also paint in a broader fashion than I normally do. I had great fun producing these paintings and look forward to painting some more. "
